This is a premium experience developed with Cultural Attractions of Australia in mind.
An exclusive, privately guided experience introducing visitors to the historic and changing face of Fremantle.
2023 marks the 40th anniversary of Australia's legendary 1983 America's Cup win. Celebrate this great moment in sporting history with one of the crew, under the magnificent wing-keeled winning yacht: Australia II.
Commence your journey at Elizabeth Quay in Perth, where you will meet your skipper and step aboard a super-sleek 14-seater boat ride to Fremantle. Running out under the Elizabeth Quay bridge, you will travel across the face of Perth city along beautiful Kings Park, following the contours of the spectacular Swan River.
With your expert guide, venture around Matilda Bay, Pelican Point, Nedlands, and Dalkeith with amazing views of multimillion dollar mansions, until you disembark at Victoria Quay, Fremantle.
On arrival, you will be met by Fremantle local John Longley, former crewmate of the famous 1983 America’s cup winning yacht, Australia II. John Longley’s involvement in the 1983 Australia II campaign marked the high point of his career as a yachtsman. Longley helped skipper John Bertrand select the crew for Australia II; he choreographed the team’s actions for tacking, jibing and other manoeuvres and served in the crew as a grinder. John will be your local tour guide for a personal tour through WA Maritime Museum. Hear tales of the winning yacht race, followed by drinks under the Australia II yacht, proudly on display.
